When I visited a school in rural Kentucky where Save the Children has been working for more than 75 years, I was shocked to see so many children and families struggling to get by. Even in today’s tough economic times, our country is still a land of great wealth and prosperity. But children in impoverished, rural communities are going without essentials most of us can take for granted.
Indeed, one in five children in rural America lives in poverty.
When I returned home and spoke to my own children about the trip, we hit upon an idea for other families like yours to help children and families in need.
As a mother, I would like to appeal to parents everywhere to send Save the Children Valentine’s Day cards this year.
