eUpdate on Haiti response - We are getting aid through...

www.kennedytz.bogspot.com,

Save the Children staff are working around the clock to bring clean water, hygiene, food, medical care and safe spaces to thousands of children in dire circumstances in devastated Port-au-Prince. Today, I bring you the story of one of these children:

Two-year-old Winnie's home collapsed in the recent earthquake, burying her and her family under a pile of rubble near Save the Children's office.

On Friday, Winnie was rescued and she is now in the care of her uncle Frantz, who lost his wife to the earthquake. Sadly, her parents also did not survive. Save the Children's medical experts treated Winnie for dehydration and expect her to make a full recovery.

To date, thanks to our decades of experience in Haiti, Save the Children has already been able to reach children, hospitals and orphanages with food, water and hygiene kits. This is just the beginning of aid we will provide in coordination with the government of Haiti and other aid organizations.

Thousands of children like Winnie are fortunate to have survived the earthquake. Now, they need our help more than ever.

Children are struggling to survive—sleeping out in the open, without clean water, food or, in some cases, a caring adult to look after them. While the Haitian people are extremely resilient and are exhibiting patience and generosity, their circumstances remain difficult—mothers have no clean water for mixing formula and families are living among the dead.

Haiti's children urgently need your help... Give now.
