Sierra Leone: A momentous day - free healthcare at last

.

From 27 April (Sierra Leone's day of independence) - all pregnant mothers and children under 5 will not pay for healthcare. That's over 1.5 million mums and kids every year, and you played an amazing part in making this happen.

Thousands emailed Gordon Brown, he responded, and evenwrote to personally thank you (PDF 48kb).

Campaigning works. But it doesn't stop here. Over 18,000 people have supported our election campaign so far.

We need to keep up the pressure on whoever wins the next election, and hold the new government to promises they've made to children in their manifestos - both here in the UK and across the world
